Downtimes & Spreadsheets

Evening One & All,

Firstly my apologies for the previous announcement not going out on all channels, this one should be doing so and then some in an attempt to make up for it. In addition due to the delay in getting the Downtime Spreadsheet to people for pre-DT-cycle testing I will be extending the Downtime window until the 17th of July. I would ask that people try and submit individual endeavours and total group actions as early as possible before the deadline, the 10th of July is going to act as a soft submissions deadline of sorts and we would really appreciate it if you were to let us know if you have finalised your downtimes by that date so we can start organising responses.

Attached is the new downtime spreadsheet, designed to record individual endeavours and assist with the calculations of each. This spreadsheet does not replace the normal submission system for individual character actions, so do please remember to write up and assign your individual character actions on the website!

As for the endeavours on the website, in fairly short order there should be the option to upload your endeavour’s spreadsheet to the page for each individual endeavour. Unsurprisingly this is where the completed spreadsheet goes.

As for the spreadsheet itself there are certain things that it can do and certain it can’t yet. As yet it can’t factor in Keywords, multiple methods or calculate your target cost from your target difficulty depending on your desired outcome. I’ve included the explanation of how specific outcomes influence costs and difficulties on a separate tab to help with that. However once you’ve worked out your target costs and difficulties the sections on the first tab will allow you to keep track of meeting them.

The second tab is the Cost Calculator which allows you to take your target cost, the resources available to you and your desired priority for spending them to calculate the split of currency you’ll have to spend to reach your target value. There’s additional explanation on the tab to assist as well.

The spreadsheet as a whole should have sections of it protected so there’s no risk of accidentally deleting the formulae that make it work, and you will need to enable macros to get it to work.

Urgent need for crew

Evening folks,
At time of writing, there are four crew signed up for the event. This is nowhere near enough for us to run a game with. If those numbers haven’t picked up by the 17th of July, I will have to cancel the event.
If crew numbers increase to the point that the event can support additional players, I may open up additional player spaces, but I will offer first chance at those spaces to the people who have signed up to crew as a gesture of goodwill. Signing up for crew does not guarantee that player spaces will open up, and it does not guarantee you a player space if they do. Any additional spaces will be offered on a strictly first-come, first-served basis with the earliest crew getting the first offer of swapping to play and spaces being available will require enough crew to balance the numbers.
To be clear, player spaces will only be offered to crew if doing so maintains an appropriate balance between players and crew. I will not open up additional player spaces in a fashion that diminishes crew numbers, and I will not guarantee that any spaces will be made available.
I will also again remind people that crewing (£17 for the weekend) includes food, XP, a downtime, and advance booking on the next event.

Bookings Closed, Crew Needed

Well, that was over quickly.

Congratulations on making that the fastest we’ve ever sold out of player tickets for an event. At this time I cannot tell you if we’ll open more spaces as it will depend on us having crew numbers.
Currently there are five crew tickets booked, and most of those belong to the storytellers. We cannot run the event without crew, so if you know anyone who might be interested in crewing tell them to get in touch.
If you normally play our events and haven’t booked a ticket for this event, please consider coming and crewing for us. It’s a lot of fun, and there are perks including advance booking for the next event, full catering, and crew banter. A mix of roles are usually available from talking to combat.

Events and Bookings

Pilgrims of the Emperor and Omnissiah, I bring news!
Firstly, as many of you noted, the general player bookings for The Footsteps of Giants opened last night, and we have sold (at time of writing) 27 out of 34 player spaces. We’re now in that awkward phase of bookings where it becomes very tricky to avoid over-selling tickets. If you are looking to book a hardship ticket, you will have to contact me directly so I can shift numbers around – they’re not actually sold out! Booking is open at
Secondly, in relation to the first, we currently have nowhere near enough crew signed up for the event. Crew get fed by the lovely Hazel, and get first chance to book the event after the event they crew as well as getting a downtime and XP for attendance. Crew catering for the weekend is £17 a head, and booking can be done at If our crew numbers go up, additional player spaces may be opened on a camping-only basis.
Finally, I can confirm the dates for our third event this year. Shiver Our Souls will be at Douglaswood Scout Centre on the weekend of November 6-8.
